The singing office is a very broad concept, which is useful in this direction because it allows us to understand the history and current songs of protest, struggle, work and more generally all the musical practices of popular culture of oral tradition. In the recent past, this story sung, wakes up in Italy starting from the fifties with the experience of Cantacronache and more widely since the early sixties with the birth of New Songs in Italian and then spread all Canzonieri Italy (including the Song of Blades of Bologna) and especially with the awareness on the part of popular subjects themselves, the importance and beauty of their own popular culture of oral tradition, no longer a sign of social inferiority but distinctive redemption differences. This story is enhanced infatti anche con la diffusione delle ricerche antropologiche, sociali ed etnomusicologiche e l’intreccio continuo con i movimenti politici e culturali, con tutti quegli intellettuali rovesciati che hanno contribuito a questa presa di coscienza, incrociandosi in gran parte attorno all’esperienza dell’Istituto Ernesto De Martino. Il canto sociale rischia continuamente di farsi genere musicale ma sfugge sempre, grazie alla sua estensione, alle etichette di mercato, grazie alle ineluttabili nuove generazioni che hanno praticato successivamente la presa di parola critica sul mondo, ultima forse la pratica del rap.
Quest’anno il laboratorio sarà dedicato ad Ivan Della Mea, singer, poet, writer, journalist, who recently passed away a free man who thought and sang for more than forty years and now leaves us a rich legacy of ideas and songs.
